What materials are used in your pieces?

I use clear and stained glass. All pieces are hand cut by myself, ground, taped with copper foil and soldered.
The botanicals I use are pressed and preserved naturally. Until used in a wall hanging, it sees very little sunlight. They will lighten over time from sun exposure which is their natural evolution.

Are the butterflies ethically sourced?

Yes. I did a lot of research to find a collector where I can be 100% sure that all butterflies are ethically sourced. The butterflies I currently use are from the Penang butterfly farm in Malaysia. These farms raise insects as a source of income instead of destroying rainforests. Butterfly farming combines economic development and conservation and can have a profound impact on the environment. In contrast to agricultural farming, cattle ranching, logging etc. butterfly farming is dependent upon native plant species and the farmers must keep areas of land intact to provide a food source for the caterpillars. Deceased butterflies are gathered for museums and collectors. Butterfly farms and licensed collectors are subject of very strict regulations and laws protecting endangered species. All the butterflies that I work with were collected after passing away, having lived their life promoting ecological awareness.

Do you offer returns or refunds?

All sales are final, I do not accept returns or refunds. Please be sure you really love a piece before ordering.

I’m from Vienna, can I pick up my order?

Of course! Just use the pickup option during the checkout.

How can I hang my piece?

I do not recommend rubber suction cups as these are not reliable. I can offer you a window hook with your order at no additional charge. Just leave a message at checkout. Otherwise use a plain nail that goes into your wall or into the top of your window frame.

How do I choose a chain length?

Every space is unique and I want to provide the perfect chain lenght for yours. Measure from the top of your window frame or wherever you want to hang it, to where you want the top of your stained glass piece to begin. You can choose from four options of Short (10cm), Medium (20cm), Long (30cm) or Extra Long (40cm). If you require a different chain length, please make a note at checkout.

How do I clean my piece?

Dust gently with a soft cloth. For a deeper clean use distilled water or ammonia-free glass cleaner.

Do you accept custom work?

At the moment I do. Please use the contact form to write me. (This is not binding and details will be further discussed if the project is a good fit for both of us.)

Domestic Shipping

I ship everything through Österreichische Post AG. Wrapping + packing up glass is no joke. In order to prepare your glass for a safe delivery, please allow at least 1 week. Shipping costs for glass are unfortunatley not the cheapest and I've covered as much as I can. I just really hope that you'll love the piece enough so as to not mind covering the shipping costs.

What is stained Glass and where does it get its color from?

Stained Glass is colored by adding metal oxides or metal powders to molten glass, not by coloring it afterwards. The glass takes on a particular color depending on the metal added.
Blue - Cobalt
Blueish green - Copper
Emerald green - Chrome
Green / brown - Iron
Yellow - Sulfur & Cadmium
Violet - Nickel
Purple - Manganese Dioxide
Red - Gold salts or colloidal gold (which makes red the most expensive color)
